The first part of the “Deal of the Century” was presented by Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, in a summit in Bahrain. The proposal was met with scepticism and deemed “immoral” and “stillborn” by the international press.

”My direct message to the Palestinian people is that despite what those who have let you down in the past tell you, President Trump and America have not given up on you,”

Jared Kushner, Manama, Bahrain

Yet neither Israel nor Palestine officials attended the summit in Bahrain. According to analysts, the plan is not undermined by a lack of funding – Jared Kushner has planned for a $50bn in Palestinian territories and nearby countries over the next ten years-, but by its refusal to address the political settlement underlying the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Palestinians have rejected the first plan of the plan.

“Only when there is a political solution on the basis of international law and the two-state vision will we welcome all those who wish to help us, whether it be in Manama or anywhere else. But for now, we reject the ‘Deal of the Century.’”
